Wind chimes ring in the distance as the soft breeze sweeps salty ocean air over golden hills and vine- yards. Under an ancient tree she remembers old loves and days spent hunting for crawfish in the creek. Strings, sweet jazzy drums and flute swing slowly back and forth like a lazy afternoon in a hammock.
In many places along the California coastline, steep hills roll down into cliffs which hang over the sea, containing caves and secret coves, some of which are named after dinosaurs and pirates. Rumour has it that several of these were used to hide smuggled booze during the prohibition. Between the hills are small hidden valleys filled with oaks, sycamores, eucalyptus, and willows, under which many a romantic rendezvous has taken place.
lyrics
What to do when I see you?
How to smile when face to face?
How to laugh under the willow, in the breeze? In the breeze.
My delight was your pleasure.
Blossoms white in my clothes.
I lost my ribbons and my buttons. I didn’t mind. No, I didn’t mind.
What did I see when we were side by side? No reason to hide, no reason to hide.
What to do when I see you?
How to smile when face to face?
How to laugh under the willow, in the breeze? In the breeze.
Zoom In Zoom Out is beautifully reflective. Mally allows herself to be so vulnerable, but the underlying flow shows an incredibly strong woman. I'm honoured to have had a part in it. Hazel Iris
