In a back corner of a badly lit bar, she tries to hide her fragility with quiet sarcasm but it is too late. The fault lines are too deep. Mallets, drums, organ, strings and electric guitar roll around her as she tries to keep steady, tries to keep from cracking to the core.
Fault Lines. Earthquakes. Aftershocks.
Growing up on the central coast of California, the San Andreas fault line is just another feature of the land (admittedly quite a large yet hidden one). For the most part there is no reason to think about it - except for when an earthquake really does happen. With strange shakings and rollings and rumblings, they never last very long. However, much like human relationships, devastation and destruction through earthquakes and aftershocks are never to be underestimated.
lyrics
Shatter me.
Break me into pieces. Shatter me and I’ll fall to the floor.
Caress me.
Say you didn’t mean it. Pet me.
I’ll forget everything.
Quiet me.
Put your finger to my mouth. Silence me
With your winning smile.
Hide me
In the back of your thoughts. Forget me
And I’ll fade away.
I can’t abide the thought Of you not being by my side, But maybe the truth is That I don’t want to be alone.
Zoom In Zoom Out is beautifully reflective. Mally allows herself to be so vulnerable, but the underlying flow shows an incredibly strong woman. I'm honoured to have had a part in it. Hazel Iris
