She considers a certain fairy tale that she’s heard countless times. She would love to twist it so that certain roles in the story were to be told from
a different point of view. She walks among the Redwoods and listens to the gurgling water of the rushing river. She thinks of the poisoned apple and smiles a double-edged smile.
Everyone knows that strange things happen when we wander off into the trees... these woods may not exactly be the Black Forest but they are old, full of lore, and the magic in the air is more than heavy.
lyrics
You’re so lovely, pretty pretty you.
You’re so graceful, lovely lovely you.
I want to be lovely, pretty pretty too.
I only stumble, clumsy clumsy me.
You’re so crazy, funny funny you.
Always smiling, cheery cheery you.
Can I be crazy? Funny funny too?
Always pouting, dreary dreary me.
You have eyes so dreamy sweet and true
And a sweetheart, lucky lucky you.
Mama told me never to compare,
I can’t help I want us to be square.
I have an apple rosy red and new,
Fresh from the orchard, ‘specially for you.
Eat it when you want to have a snack,
After that I won’t expect you back!
Zoom In Zoom Out is beautifully reflective. Mally allows herself to be so vulnerable, but the underlying flow shows an incredibly strong woman. I'm honoured to have had a part in it. Hazel Iris
