I have always felt extremely attached to the landscapes and features of the area where I was born, in addition to the different parts of California where I spent time during various stages of growing up. Even now, writing while thousands of miles away, I feel as though it is all part of my flesh and blood. It courses through my veins. I know that millions of other people feel this way too, and although I have seen many quotes that describe the feeling, this is one of my favourites. It is from those who were there first.
“When we think of the life of a human, where does that life lie - in the body, or in the heart and mind? The feelings we feel are not physical; they are internal, like our personalities. Within all of us lies the spirit, the sacredness.”
- A value of the Chumash peoples of Central and Southern California
lyrics
Take me to the mouth of the river, Fly me to the edge of the wood!
Slowly, not too quickly in my head, Hurry, follow me to my bed.
Sing to me a melody you love, I’ll tell you my favourite tale.
Slowly, not too quickly in my head, Hurry, follow me to my bed.
Hide with me down under the hollow, Chase me with the sand in your toes!
Slowly, not too quickly in my head, Hurry, follow me to my bed.
Come now follow me to the end, Never to begin again!
Come now follow me to the end, Hurry, follow me to my bed!
Hurry, follow me to my bed - Hurry, follow me to my bed!
Zoom In Zoom Out is beautifully reflective. Mally allows herself to be so vulnerable, but the underlying flow shows an incredibly strong woman. I'm honoured to have had a part in it. Hazel Iris
